Director George Miller speaks out about ‘Mad Max Fury Road’ reactions, ‘We’re very happy’

Director George Miller has spoken out about teh new Mad Max film which is finally getting a release in 2015. The film will return 30 years after the last Mel Gibson film and has been hindered by countless delays.

Tom Hardy Mad Max Fury Road photo”Smashing up a couple of big trucks, it had to be very, very, very precise,” said Miller to the Sydney Morning Herald  in his first interview about the long-awaited return of Mad Max to the screen. ”So we just had to wait for a clear day.”

“Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well,” says Miller. “We’re very happy.

The film was was delayed twice when rain caused the desert to blossom at Broken Hill. It was finally shot in Namibia and South Africa last year.

“There has been a lot of doubt about it, [with people saying] ‘it took so long’, but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year.”

The movie also stars Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa; Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max, Sleeping Beauty) as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones (Conan the Barbarian) as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) plays Toast; Riley Keough (Magic Mike) is Capable, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) is Splendid.

They are joined by supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw as The Dag and Courtney Eaton as Fragile.

Mad Max: Fury Road will arrive in theaters on May 15th, 2015.
