Director Colin Trevorrow ‘Jurassic World 2’ will be ‘deeper and richer’

Very little is known about the fifth ‘Jurassic Park’ movie that is currently in production in the able hands of Spanish director J.A. Bayona.

However, the director of ‘Jurassic World,’ Colin Trevorrow has provided assurance that it will be a better movie than its recent predecessor.

Speaking with website Screenrant, in an interview for his recent film ‘The Book of Henry,’ Trevorrow began by talking about the collaborative effort between himself and Bayona.

“He is a different director but it’s interesting, we have so many similar instincts as far as suspense and family and fears of childhood and the perspective that we want to tell the story from that even though I wrote the film, it’s J.A.’s movie from start to finish. He’s just – the film looks beautiful and is exciting,” Trevorrow told Screenrant.

Trevorrow’s latest film, ‘The Book of Henry,’ is primarily focussed on a family, childhood and the dangers associated. Bayona’s recent critically acclaimed film ‘A Monster Calls’ was also about childhood, its associated fears and the importance of family.

Trevorrow added that writing a film for another director, especially whose work he admired, was a satisfactory experience.

“That was by far the most rewarding creative experience of my life, just making a movie for another director who I respect. And I built it for him, so it’s different than maybe even the movie I would have written for myself. [It’s] a Spanish horror/thriller with dinosaurs in it. And I loved doing it,” he said.

Trevorrow also indicated towards the various aspects of production of Jurassic World 2, that were carefully considered from day one with full dedication and love. “We’re using more animatronics because I learned so much about how they can be utilised, so I built scenes that would allow us to use them – because they can’t run, these are the lessons,” he said.

It was the judicious use of animatronics and computer generated (CG) effect and the balance between the two that made the creatures in the first three films look utterly believable. Many fans however, were left disappointed by the more “digital-looking” dinosaurs in Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World.’

The only animatronic dinosaur in the entire film was a dying Apatosaurus head and it was a highlight moment in the film.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return with BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum to reprise their roles from previous Jurassic films. The film stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones and Rafe Spall.

The untitled sequel to ‘Jurassic World’ from executive producer Steven Spielberg, is set for release on June 22, 2018.
