Devil worshipers perform ‘Pink Mass’ at WBC’s Fred Phelps mother’s grave, turns her into lesbian in afterlife
Has the Westboro Baptist Church met it’s match?
Last weekend, Members of the Satanist Temple performed what is described as a “Pink Mass” at the grave site of the mother of Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps in order to stage a formal ceremony celebrating same-sex unions.
According to a Satanic Temple press release, spokesperson Lucien Greaves officiated the ceremony while two same-sex couples, male and female, celebrated their homosexuality at the gravesite.
Greaves was adorned in a a headdress made of horns while the couple kissed and “made-out” over the tombstone.
Members then posthumously declared Catherine Johnston, the mother of Westboro’s founder Fred Phelps, a lesbian.
Explaining the ceremony itself, Greaves continues, “The Satanic Temple now believes that Fred Phelps must believe that his mother is now gay, in the afterlife, due to our Pink Mass… And nobody can challenge our right to our beliefs.”
“The idea for the Pink Mass ceremony and website came during the aftermath of the tragic Boston Marathon bombings, during which time the WBC were threatening to protest the funerals of the bombing victims,” explains Greaves.
“Members of The Satanic Temple were in Boston, waiting for them, but they failed to show. Later, the WBC issued a statement that they had been present ‘in spirit’. We decided that a same-sex couple celebrating ceremony at the grave-site of Fred Phelps’s mother was an appropriate way to meet the Westboro Baptists, ‘in spirit’, but this time on our terms.”
According to an ABC News report, a spokesman for Westboro, which has never shirked from publicity, told ABC that the “pink mass” only gave the church another moment to preach against gay people.
“I don’t care whether you’re dancing on a grave, in a hot air balloon, or standing on Mt. Kiliminjaro, homosexuality is a sin. And the punishment fixed for that sin is the death penalty,” said Westboro spokesman Steve Drain.
