Dept of Justice monitored James Rosen at Fox and his parents for reports on North Korea
Fox News anchor James Rosen’s parents were among those who had their phone records seized by the Dept. of Justice during its investigation into the 2009 North Korea intelligence leak, according to Fox News host Bret Baier. The DOJ is already under scrutiny over the AP phone record scandal.
“The seized toll numbers relate to James’ parents home in Staten Island,” Baier, a colleague of Rosen, reported on Tuesday evening.
We said the different numbers; we have the documents now, the seized … records relate to James’ parents’ home in Staten Island,” he said on “Special Report with Bret Baier.”
The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza reported that the DOJ had also seized phone records of numbers associated with two White House staffers and at least five Fox News reporters while monitoring Rosen.
In court filings, the department even said Rosen may have aided and abetted in a crime by trying to pry the information, which was classified, from his source.
The government is prosecuting a State Department adviser Stephen Kim, a North Korea analyst, for revealing secrets to the news organization. He is awaiting trial. No charges have been filed against Rosen.
