Denise Gossett discusses Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams in ‘I Saw the Light’
The popular star of Marvel’s Thor and Avengers films, Tom Hiddleston, is portraying the country music icon Hank Williams and co-star Denise Gossett previewed the film, working with Hiddleston and much more in the new interview with Dispatch Radio.
Denise begins by reflecting on the casting process, meeting with director Marc Abraham (who has worked as a producer on a ton of big name films) and playing Williams’ mother-in-law with Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen.
“He’s so charming as Hank,” she says as she details her scene in the film and prepping for the biopic. “It was fascinating to read all the little details about him and his music is just phenomenal.”
Denise then touches on Hiddleston’s presence and transformation into Williams. “I told him on set, I said ‘This movie is going to do amazing things for your career’ and he was like ‘You think?’ I know.”
She covers the dying of his air, the contacts, losing weight and his ability to play live at a country music festival. “It blew everyone away.” (A clip of Tom performing “Move in on Over” from the Wheatland Music Festival is below)
“It was like I was doing a play with another actor at my level,” she says of the actor’s humility.
Denise previews Morris Chestnut and her role in the upcoming thriller When the Bough Breaks. “This one has a lot of different twists.”
Directed by Jon Cassar (producer on 24) the film drops September 16, 2016.
