Decoration Inspiration For Those With No Idea

If you are anything like I was this time last year, knowing absolutely zero about decorating, interior design or an y type of home styling, you should know two things. The first thing that you should know is that you are most definitely not alone, creativity and decorating skills are not something that we are all born with. The second thing that you should know is that there is a vast, vast amount of help, tips, tutorials and support online, which you can access to help you out when the time comes to give your home a style boost. If you are looking for some inspiration to help with your decorating plans, here are the places where you need to be looking.

YouTube

YouTube has been my most used resource in terms of not only getting style tips from professionals in the industry like Restoration Hardware CEO Gary G Friedman, but you can also find a huge amount of tutorials on the site, to show you how best to decorate. Without the video sharing website, I could never have learned how to wallpaper properly or use gloss paint in the right way. Such has been my education on YouTube, just last week I was able to build a small side table from pallets, thanks to a great tutorial on there. If you are looking for help and inspiration, this is the place to go.

Pinterest

At first glance, Pinterest appears like a social media site where people with money and great style go to show off what they do and who they are. Once you scratch beneath the surface on Pinterest however, you will see that there is a great array of tips and helpful thoughts, to help you get inspired with ideas for your home. Here on Pinterest you can find hacks to do things cheaply, you can see some fantastic up-cycling ideas and you can also find inspiration in terms of what styles are hot, and what would look best in your home.

Facebook Groups

After searching on Google for groups which could help to inspire me in terms of home design, I managed to find at least 5 Facebook groups which had been set up with this in mind. After joining as many groups as I could, and actively engaging within them, I was greeted by many people who were looking to help. In just a few days I found myself sending photos of my interior to my new friends on the Facebook groups, who were more than happy to suggest color schemes and styles that I should look into. In fact without these kind people on Facebook, I would never have been able to create the beautiful living room which I sit in every day.

The key to being great at interior design and decorating, is about knowing where to look for inspiration, and then using that information to create something amazing.
