‘Death on the Nile’ cast adds Russell Brand, still set for 2020

Despite some mixed reviews for 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express, Warner Bros. moved quickly into greenlighting a sequel.

Like the first film, the sequel Death on the Nile will be directed by Thor helmer/Harry Potter actor/Shakespeare enthusiast Kenneth Branagh.

This new film is also taking after its predecessor with an amazing cast: Branagh returning as Hercule Poirot, along with Gal Gadot and Armie Hammer, with Russell Brand being the newest cast member, Letitia Wright, Tom Bateman and four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening.

Death on the Nile centers around Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who must set aside his leisure time to solve the murder of a young heiress. Not much else is known about Branagh’s interpretation, except, of course, for its impressive cast. LoganBlade Runner 2049, and Alien: Covenant co-writer Michael Green is writing the script.

  • Jacqueline de Bellefort, Simon’s spurned former lover.
  • American erotica novelist Salome Otterbourne and her daughter, Rosalie.
  • Mrs. Allerton and her son, Tim.
  • Linnet’s American trustee, Andrew Pennington, who happened to run into her in Egypt.
  • Linnet’s maid, Louise Bourget.
  • American socialite Marie Van Schuyler and her younger cousin, Cornelia Robson.
  • Miss Van Schuyler’s nurse, Miss Bowers.

Filming will reportedly begin at the end of September.

Death on the Nile is scheduled for release on December 20, 2020.
