‘Deadpool’ adds Gina Carano, confirms Colossus in Ryan Reynolds film
Fox will have to continue to move quickly to get the Deadpool to theaters for the 2016 release date and adding Gina Carano may keep fans excited. Additionally, THR reported that Colossus, presumably Daniel Cudmore, will be in the film in some capacity with the Ryan Reynolds led picture.
“Carano will play a character known as Angel Dust. It is unclear how she fits into the proceedings, but in the Marvel comics, the character was part of an underground mutant group known as The Morlocks,” the report states.
The popular X-Men character will be joined by “The Russian X-Men character known as Colossus is slated to appear in the movie,” adds THR.
Cudmore, who played the character in X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: First Class, would be an interesting addition.
The Angel Dust character was created by Geoff Johns and Shawn Martinbrough for the Morlocks series in 2002. The Morlocks are a group of mutants who typically live underground and well away from “normal” society; they’ve been big players in X-Men stories over the years.
Angel Dust has powers that reflect the effects of the drug that give the character her name: she has “the ability to chemically supercharge her adrenaline levels, temporarily granting her superhuman strength.”
Tim Miller is directing Deadpool with Lauren Shuler Donner producing. T.J. Miller also has a unidentified role. The film will shoot in Vancouver starting in March.
The film is set for a release on February 12, 2016.
