David Sobolov confirms Gorilla Grodd will be back in ‘The Flash’ season 3 as Plunder arrives
Actor David Sobolov, who voices the character, confirmed that Gorilla Grodd, a key villain in the Flash universe, is going to be coming back and, while he doesn’t say in particular in the tweet that it will be during season 3, it confirms previous talks of Grodd’s return.
But first, Barry and Team Flash will have to deal with a new villain named Plunder.
To the Grodd story, we turn to Twitter for the remark from Sobolov.
“Happy New Grodd! Grodd comes back in 2017 on CW_TheFlash! More news soon when Warner Brothers unseals my lips.” –@volobos
During the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, where producers said Gorilla Grodd will return in a two-episode arc taking place in Gorilla City on Earth-2, his last known whereabouts in The Flash Season 2.
There were some set photos circulating around the Internet which had Grodd facing off against Savitar, but no details sort that out….yet.
Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen will have a ton to sort out going into the second half of The Flash Season 3.
Accidentally landing six months in the future, Barry sees Savitar kill Iris (Candice Patton) right in front of his eyes. This means Team Flash’s only mission moving forward is to find and take down the god of speed to prevent Iris’ death.
In the midseason premiere, Plunder, played by Stephen Huszar, arrives to loot Central City.
This likely means that Barry will have to set aside his quest to defeat Savitar.
Plunder does not have any metahuman powers, similar to other non-metahuman that the Flash has encountered like Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell). Plunder was also a rival to Hunter Zolomon and a member of the Department of Metahuman Hostility where he’d help the Flash fight against the Rogues in the DC Comic Series. Check out the photo below.
Plunder, whose real name is Detective Jared Morillo, was first encountered by The Flash when he journeyed to the mirror world once. He then thought that Plunder was out to kill him for reward money. The Flash managed to escape but little did he know that Plunder also had made his way out of the mirror world. Once outside, Plunder joined forces with Blacksmith’s Rogues and had sinister plans to ruin Barry’s life by launching attacks on his loved ones. Plunder is an expert marksman and assassin.
Barry hesitates in taking down Plunder, recalling he villain’s presence in his vision of the future and fears that if he catches Plunder, it will cement Iris’ fate. Confused about Barry’s hesitation to stop Plunder, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) decides to step in as Kid Flash. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) offers Julian (Tom Felton) a job.
The Flash returns with all-new episodes Tuesday, January 24th on The CW.
