‘Dark Knight Rises’ star Tom Hardy says ‘Mad Max Fury Road’ is filming new material, Mel Gibson cameo rumored

The production on a new Mad Max has been delayed for so long, fans will get excited when so hope arrives. Tom Hardy stars as Max and may give fans something to cheer about while discussing the latest shoot with The Playlist.

Tom Hardy as Mad Max Fury Road photo“It’s great,” said Hardy when asked for an update on Mad Max: Fury Road. “It’s a big piece. I’m off out there next week to do some re-shoots—well, not re-shoots actually, we’re doing more. Building – building more Mad Max.”

Warner Bros has yet to commit to a release date and this may be frustrating to fans as 2014 seemed likely, but is fast approaching.

There are new have been surfacing of late—in Australian trade Inside Film and today’s THR AFM Daily—that original Max, Mel Gibson, would be making a cameo or have a role as a character known simply as Drifter.

Directed by George Miller and stars Hardy as the titular Max along with Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Courtney Eaton, Josh Helman, Jennifer Hagan, iOTA, John Howard, Richard Carter, Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.
