‘Dark Knight Rises’ star Michael Caine locked in dressing room overnight
While filming “Now You See Me,” a crime thriller in New Orleans, Michael Caine was locked up in his dressing and left for the night. A production source explained the incident to London’s Daily Mirror on Tuesday.
Caine’s makeshift dressing room is in the attic of an old converted theater. The “Dark Knight Rises” star headed off for a nap and soon discovered he was trapped in the dark.
“It had been a long day of filming and Michael decided to slip upstairs to a makeshift dressing area and catch 40 winks. Unfortunately he was asleep for some time and failed to hear directors calling a wrap. Production all assumed he was safely outside in his trailer, and therefore locked up for the night.”
Caine was indeed stuck all night long until a carpenter showed up in the morning.
“When Michael eventually woke up, he realised he was locked in. His mobile phone was in his trailer and there was no electricity in the attic, meaning he couldn’t see a thing. It was pitch black. Michael started shouting for help but no one could hear him. It was only when an on-set carpenter who had left his tools in the theatre went to do some maintenance work the following morning that he was discovered.”
“Now You See Me” stars fellow “Rises” cast member Morgan Freeman as well as Woody Harrelson. The story centers on a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money.
The film also stars Mark Ruffalo (Hulk in “The Avengers”), Jesse Eisenberg (“Zombieland” and “Social Network”), Isla Fisher (“Rango” and the upcoming “Great Gatsby” film) and Dave Franco.
The “Alfie” star returns as Bruce Wayne’s butler in “The Dark Knight Rises,” the final Batman film in the Christopher Nolan trilogy. “Rises” comes to theaters on July 20, 2012.
