‘Dark Knight Rises’ star Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star, direct ‘Sandman’ film
A Sandman film finally moves ahead with Joseph Gordon-Levitt the prominent player and name attached to the project.
The popular DC comic book may finally make the jump to the big screen as Deadline reports the Don Jon and David Goyer team may get the greenlight by Warner Bros.
“It has been rumored that Gordon-Levitt might star, and the deal he’s making attaches him as the protagonist. I’m told that in addition to that, he’s eyeing the project as a directing vehicle. Gordon-Levitt made his feature directorial debut on the well received Sundance pic Don Jon, but this would be a considerable step up in scope and scale. They will hire a writer shortly,” Deadline states.
Gordon-Levitt has responded to clarify his role thus far.
Just to clarify, folks. I’ve signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!

Sandman is a balance of horror and fantasy with the titular character being Morpheus aka Dream, captured for 70 years and then escapes find his world in shambles. The Neil Gaiman comic has a massive cult following.
