‘Dark Knight Rises’ photos from Pittsburgh flood the Internet
Pittsburgh welcomed the third chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy with a giant Bat signal projected onto one of the skyscrapers. Over weekend and yesterday, it was the Internet which was lit up with set photos, quick videos and more gossip as the Pittsburgh shoot engaged the Steel City.
There is a collection of videos (and a few photos) featuring the Batman vs. Bane fight in the city, the rehearsal of chaos in the streets (or a prison break) and the arrival of three Batman Tumblers. Check it out here.
Additionally, TotalFilm published some comments yesterday from Tom Hardy, who plays the villain Bane.
“Hang on a minute. You’re asking me to come round the world with you in a Batman movie, playing a villain, and the only downside to it is I have to wear a mask? Hmmm, let me think. I’ll get back to you… No, I’m f***ing there, man! Anything you need.”
So, as the photos reveal, the mask is rather intrusive and Hardy addresses the issue:
“Any time you put something over your face, you’re going to adopt a personality and a physicality that has nothing to do with acting. It allows a performance to be free.”
Bane played a historic role in the Batman comic book mythology when he freed all of the inmates of Arkham Asylum, which exhausted the Batman. Bane, after learning the Cape Crusader’s secret identity, ambushed him in the Batcave, defeated him and broke his back. Fan speculate that this is the backdrop to “Rises”.
“Mmmmm… Good lead-in, but all I can say is that Chris has a plan up his sleeve that’s not at all disappointing. And that is a definite choice that’s watertight in every respect. I think Bane’s f***ing cool so I’m really excited to play him. It’s not the guy in Joel Schumacher’s film, but it shouldn’t disappoint fanboys…”, Hardy again dodges any details about Bane giving Bats a spinal injury.
Most of the other speculation surrounds the role of Marion Cotillard (“Inception”) who plays Miranda Tate. According to Warner Bros. Tate is presumably “a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham” but has been caught on the set alongside an artillery vehicle, where she was escorted by a brood of machine gun-wielding bad guys.
So, expect the speculation and rumors to continue as news from Pittsburgh is arriving daily. Unfortunately for fans, the film doesn’t arrive until next summer, July 20.
