‘Daredevil’ season will star Elodie Yung as Elektra
Marvel and Netflix made headlines with the news that Elektra has been cast for season two of their hit series, Daredevil. Élodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) has just been cast as the mysterious figure to join Charlie Cox, according to Marvel.
Executive producer and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb sang Yung’s praises in a statement.
“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”
Yung is a French actress best known in the U.S. for playing Jinx in 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
After taking the mantle of Daredevil in season one, Cox’s Murdock will now face the vigilante Punisher (Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal) in a battle over Hell’s Kitchen.
Daredevil co-stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson as the series transitions to new showrunners, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who are succeeding Season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight.
Elektra previously appeared in the 2003 feature film Daredevil, where she was played by Jennifer Garner. She got her own spin-off movie in 2005.
Season 2 has already begun production in New York with a 2016 return date likely.
