‘Daredevil’ season 3 trailer: Darkness is the theme in the ‘Born Again’ story
The first Daredevil season 3 trailer confirms the “Born Again,” storyline will be coming to life in Netflix’s superhero show.
Darkness is both literally and figuratively at the center of this teaser with Matt proclaiming that he’d rather “Die as the devil than live as Matt Murdock.”
In the wake of The Defenders, Murdock (Charlie Cox) is presumed dead by the public, in the care of nuns…which will include his mother, Maggie.
Consumed by pessimism, Murdock says “I once believed that justice could be found in a court of law, and in the light of day. But I was fooling myself,” he says from the shadows. “Darkness only responds to darkness. And the thing is, I’d rather die as the Devil than live as Matt Murdock.”
Daredevil‘s third season will likely drop sometime towards the end of 2018.
Netflix Thailand may have accidentally shared the date over Twitter along with the teaser.
The Tweet has since been deleted, but we have a screencap of it below (via Reddit). Just in case you don’t speak Thai, it says “October 19th, see you then.”
The “Born Again” story follows the revelation of Daredevil’s secret identity after Karen Page sells the knowledge to his enemies, which Kingpin then uses to destroy Matt’s life. Driven to paranoia and insanity, Matt is saved by Sister Maggie, who turns out to be his mother.
The Netflix series will take its creative liberties, of course, but all the elements of there, including the casting of Joanne Whalley (The Borgias) as Sister Maggie, who nurses Matt back to health.
This new chapter promises to introduce Daredevil’s primary adversary: Bullseye.
Wilson Bethel has long been rumored to be playing the character ever since he was cast as a series regular in the third season last November.
Bethel was said to be playing an unnamed FBI agent with a “darkness inside himself” and a “hair-trigger temper” that would “play a critical role in the conflict between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.”
While Bethel was initially believed to be portraying Sin-Eater, rumors later pointed to him playing Bullseye after a source reportedly working on the third season began to leak some key plot points.
It’s no surprise, there have been all sorts of casting rumors and teases of Bullseye (Jason Statham linked to playing Bullseye in ‘Daredevil’ season 2)
Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson.
