Danny Boyle writing and directing ‘Bond 25,’ Daniel Craig’s last James Bond film

Danny Boyle has revealed he is working on a script for the 25th James Bond movie.

The Trainspotting director was rumored to be involved with the landmark film which is expected to be Daniel Craig’s last time playing the character.

Boyle, whose other films include Slumdog Millionaire, Shallow Grave and 127 Hours, confirmed he was working on a script with Trainspotting writer John Hodge.

“I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment,” he said. “It all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”

He has also hinted at a possible timeline for the film, revealing he is due to start shooting a Richard Curtis script in six to seven weeks, then will move on to the Bond film at the end of the year.

Bond 25 is currently slated for a November 8, 2019 release date, so a late 2018 production start would certainly give Boyle enough time for post-production

Boyle will take over from fellow Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes, who was at the helm for Skyfall and Spectre.

Scott Mendelson in Forbes says: “Having an esteemed auteur at the helm is no guarantee of a great 007 flick.”

“Most of the examples of esteemed directors taking a crack at 007 resulted in divisive (or outright loathed) instalments,” he argues.
