A father shot his 7-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter to death before killing himself at their Spring Hill, Florida home in the wake of his wife filing for divorce.

Daniel Castrillon Oregoo two kids killed in murder suicideDaniel A. Castrillon-Oreggo, age 39, murdered his daughter Susana Castrillon, age 8, and Sabastian Castrillon, age 7, both were students at Chocachatti Elementary School. Their mother, Luz Jimenez, 39, was not injured, explained Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said at a news conference Monday morning.

“I guess if there is a typical note, it was a typical note of a disgruntled soon-to-be ex-husband,” Nienhuis said of the note left behind by the father.

He didn’t provide additional details.

Jimenez, who filed for divorce from Castrillon-Oreggo this month, had reportedly planned to pick up the kids Saturday afternoon to take them to a birthday party but could not reach her husband.

She called authorities when she arrived to the home and no one answered the door.

The divorce proceedings until this time was described as “amicable” but the couple wife argued for a time while he was at the wife’s work on Friday picking up the kids for the weekend.

The argument grew quite heated, but nothing which triggered concerned by Jimenez.
