CW renews 10 shows, will add Sunday programming: Arrow season 7, The Flash season 5, Legends of Tomorrow season 4, Black Lightning season 2
There was no surprise from The CW, which officially announced a renewal of all five of the Greg Berlanti’s DC superhero dramas and five other TV shows including Supernatural.
The CW network picked up Supergirl (season four), The Flash (season five), Legends of Tomorrow (season four), Arrow (season seven), Black Lightning (season two), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season four), Dynasty (season two), Jane the Virgin (season five), Riverdale (season three), and Supernatural (season fourteen) for new seasons set to air this fall.
Considering the network is expanding to Sunday nights this October, so it probably shouldn’t come as a major surprise to see pretty much everything get a renewal since, for the first time ever, they’ll have to fill an additional night with original content.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz provided the following statement: “As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these 10 series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come. And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”
The fate of other shows, iZombie, The 100, Life Sentence, and Valor will likely be determined in May.
