‘Croods 2’ ‘Puss in Boots 2’ ‘Madagascar 4’ and ‘Captain Underpants’ get release dates

The Croods posterDreamWorks is making the headlines Friday by announcing release dates for the next wave of animated films, which including a bunch of sequels and an adaptation of Captain Underpants.

Director Rob Letterman’s adaptation will feature the voices of Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele, and Thomas Middleditch. The story follows two grade-school kids who hypnotize their mean principal into assuming a secret identity of an under-wear clad superhero who helps their fellow classmates.

Captain Underpants will open January 13, 2017.

The Croods 2: Earning $587.2 million worldwide will get a sequel made. Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman, and Clark Duke all supplied their voice the first time around, so it seems unlikely they won’t return.

The Croods 2 will comes to theater November 3, 2017.

While the Penguins of Madagascar will be in theaters later this year, a fourth Madagascar film will come in 2018.

Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Cedric the Entertainer will all certainly return for another Madagascar adventure. The film arrives May 18, 2018.

Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves  The sequel to Chris Miller’s animated adventure comedy that featured the voices of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, and Zach Galifianakis opens November 2, 2018.

The only non-sequel is DreamWorks Animations’ Larrikins (Australian slang for mischievous youth) follows a desert-dwelling marsupial who ventures out from his sheltered life. The film is slated for Feb. 16. 2018 (Source)
