Creator Bryan Fuller discusses ‘Pushing Daisies’ film, Kickstarter and a ‘Wonderfalls’ movie

Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller has confirmed that he is hopeful to revive the show using Kickstarter. Digital Spy reports May 3 that Fuller he was inspired by the recent success of the Veronica Mars movie fundraiser and that could lead to a Daisies project as well.

“I’m having the conversations with Kickstarter and I reached out to [Veronica Mars creator] Rob Thomas to figure out how he did it,” Fuller explained.

Pushing Daisies is a larger budget film and could be a problem for a Kickstarter campaign, but Fuller already has some rough figures to work from.

“What’s great about Veronica Mars and makes it so perfect for this type of project and financing is that… you’re looking at our world through the lens of film noir,” he said.

“With Pushing Daisies, you have to build a world and so it’s much more expensive. So I have to figure out if that’s possible to do with a Kickstarter campaign, because it’s not just a $5m picture, it would be somewhere between $12m and $15m.”

Fuller added that a script was started long ago and he’d like to also revisit Wonderfalls, his short lived comedy-drama which aired on Fox one season.

“I already started writing a Pushing Daisies movie as soon as the show was canceled,” he said. “There’s definitely an idea for Wonderfalls as well. I would love to revisit both of those worlds.”
