Comic Con 2015 the Place to See First Looks at Amazing New Films
It’s Comic-Con 2015, July 9th through the 12th, and it’s a fine time to partake in the delightful nerd culture that will soon be unveiled at the event. 2015 has been a great year for geek media, which has been on the rise since the 1990s and which has truly taken off in the twenty-first century.
Comic-Con as a Hype Machine
Media unveiled at Comic-Con tends to be very successful. Look at Jurassic World; it’s a mainstream film, but it truly qualifies as a geek movie. If fact, it’s one of the most popular geek movies of all time. To date, it’s the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time. A teaser-trailer was aired in 2014 at Comic-Con, and since then the hype hasn’t died down.
This is a shocking distinction for something that is merely a continuation of an existing film property from the 1990s. The first Jurassic Park was a record-breaking film in its day; and, of course, it continues to be a popular franchise and delivers enjoyable movies.
Another high grosser, Avengers: Age of Ultron was featured at Comic-Con. The panel featured stars of the film, as well as clips from the film. Age of Ultron is the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, trailing behind Jurassic Park. Like JP, The Avengers is among the most successful geek franchises of all times.
Geek Movie Revelations at Comic-Con 2015
After what feels like forever, geeks are finally learning about the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s called Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Look forward to more information about the title in the weeks following Comic-Con.
One of the greatest joys of Comic-Con is the panels audiences are treated to, and sometimes have the opportunity to participate in. It’s these panels where the best information about movies is handed to attendees, and those attendees deliver it to the Internet by blogging and reporting on the information.
This year, there will be a screening of the Hunger Games’ last offering, Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. People will also get a look behind the scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This newest Star Wars movie is likely going to be one of the most anticipated films of the century; thus far. The behind-the-scenes look is going to be something of a highlight, or once-in-a-lifetime, opportunity for fans in the audience.
Other films being showcased at the event are:
· Crimson Peak
· Warcraft
· Batman V Superman
· Pan
· And, more
It doesn’t get much better than Comic-Con. There is a great deal of opportunity for meeting new people. The event is legendary, full of die hard fans, so expect lots of cosplay. There are also opportunities for free giveaways, which include posters along with other swag you can take home.
