CNN contributor, former Obama Green Czar, Van Jones, arrested at coal protest
CNN contributor and former Obama administration Green Czar, Van Jones took to Twitter on Monday to tout his arrest for a courthouse protest against Big Coal, the arrest he asked police to make.
Jones says he volunteered to be arrested, but was released quickly stating that he was “ready for the next round.”
It is unclear whether Jones was charged with a crime following his arrest.
“That said: this fight should unite left & right. Global corp stealing pensions earned by honest US workers? Can we join forces 2 stop this,” he later tweeted.
Critics are quick to point to the hypocrisy of Jones, who as Green Czar in the Obama administration, targeted the industry he now feels is being unfair to its workers.
“You know what? I would imagine if it wasn’t for people like Van Jones, those companies would be booming right now and they wouldn’t have a hard time paying those benefits,” Glenn Beck said on his radio show. “Seeing that they are all being put out of work by the new green jobs which, you know, are sponsored by your green jobs czar.”
