Claudine Barretto & Atty. Ferdinand Topacio’s battle in court continues

A case filed by Claudine Barretto to estranged husband Raymart Santiago several months ago is the subject of conversation on Twitter and other blog sites this morning, Dec. 21, 2013 (Philippine time).
Based on the report, Claudine did not attend the hearing of the case held at the Marikina Regional Trial Court last Dec. 19.
According to the report, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, one of the trusted lawyers of Ms. Claudine Barretto, had already requested Judge Geraldine Fiel-Macaraig of Branch 192 to postpone the hearing because he was not feeling well.
Atty. Topacio added that Claudine’s second Atty. couldn’t come either because of her scheduled commitments that same day. Allegedly, despite the lawyers request, the court continued its scheduled hearing.
Claudine expressed her disappointment immediately after she learned the report that the hearing continued despite her absence. She said the hearing should have been rescheduled. Here is a part of her statement published on this website yesterday.
“Labis kaming nababahala sa mga pangyayaring naganap ngayong umaga [December 19] sa sala ni Judge Geraldine Fiel-Macaraig tungkol sa kaso ni Ms. Claudine Barretto.”
“Kami po ay humingi ng pagpapaliban ng hearing dahil sa mga sumusunod na kadahilanan. Siya ay isinugod kahapon [December 18] sa Asian Hospital sapagkat siya ay may diarrhea, nagsusuka, at matindi ang pananakit ng kanyang tiyan.”
