Christopher McQuarrie confirmed to direct ‘Mission Impossible 5,’ Tom Cruise tweets ‘It’s official’
Another chapter in the Mission: Impossible franchise moved another step forward as a director has been officially attached.
Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct Mission: Impossible 5, confirmed by the star.

Ethan Hunt and company will indeed return for another Mission Impossible
Star Tom Cruise tweeted the news today (August 5), saying:
“MISSION ACCEPTED! It’s OFFICIAL! @ChrisMcquarrie is the director of #MissionImpossible 5! #TeamTC”
McQuarrie, who won an Oscar in 1996 for his screenplay The Usual Suspects, worked with Cruise on last year’s Jack Reacher.
Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce was already brought in to write the film and Cruise signed on back in May.
The scribe is currently working on an original spec that will serve as his directorial debut. Mary Parent, who is a producer on Pac Rim, is attached to produce the project, which is not yet set up.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – the fourth movie in the action series – has grossed almost $700 million (£450 million) worldwide since opening in December 2011.
The plan is for Mission: Impossible 5 to shoot this fall.
