Christopher Fink, Florida man arrested for stealing 166 manhole covers
Police have arrested a Haines City Florida man who stole 166 manhole covers, worth $22,000.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says Christopher Fink stole 166 manhole covers from Village 7 in Poinciana.
The Toho Water Authority reported the steel covers missing on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The covers were stolen sometime between January 9 and January 23.
Through their investigation, detectives learned Fink was responsible for stealing the manhole covers and then attempting to scrap them at area secondhand metal dealers.
Fink sold the covers through his business, CMF Masonry, LLC. During the transactions, Fink provided his identification, signature, and right thumb print as verification that he lawfully owned the manhole covers.
