Christopher Eccleston says ‘Thor The Dark World’ details are ‘breathtaking’

In issue 212 of Total Film magazine, the latest issue, Christopher Eccleston discusses the special effects and his role as the deadly dark elf Malekith in Marvel’s next film: Thor: The Dark World.

The magazine features a longer interview as Eccleston inside talks about the movie’s incredible sets.

Christopher Eccleston new-posters-for-thor-the-dark-world“My first day was in a sequence where the Ark, Malekith’s ship, suicide bombs into Asgard’s main hall. The level of detail in that was just breathtaking and extraordinary…But there’s plenty of green-screen too, and I actually enjoy it.”

The former Doctor Who sounds like a lifelong science fiction fan.

“When I was a kid, before I was an actor, I used to go out into the garden and pretend I was surrounded by spaceships and pretend I was being attacked. It’s just an extension of that. It’s just play.”

Joining Eccleston, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins all return with the new director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones).

Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on November 8, 2013.
