Chris Pine discusses ‘Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit’ action, ‘his weapon is his brains’
A new action driven clip was released by Paramount for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and star Chris Pine discussed with Yahoo Movies about the role and his character’s strengths.
Nonso, the guy who plays the bodyguard Embee, is such a big dude and I’m not a big dude,” Pine told Yahoo Movies at a recent press event. “It was careful choreography and the floor was slippery and I ended up breaking my finger in that scene. You play through it and figure out a way to collapse onto the bigger fellow and hide your arm. It all worked out.”
Ryan is not a brute and uses his brain to find victories.
“His weapon is his brains — he thinks and moves with his mind faster than other people,” Pine told the press.
The CIA analyst turned operative battles Embee and then transitions to speak with William Harper (Kevin Costner) sitting on a bench with his “quasi-personal” golden retriever. Harper is a savvy CIA vet and Ryan’s handler/mentor.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit arrives in theaters on January 17, 2014
