Chris Matthews make racist remarks on debate, ‘who is watching two Cubans guys’
MSNBC host Chris Matthews bashed the idea of a Donald Trump skipping the Republican debate Tuesday, asking why anyone would care about a debate between “the Cuban guys.”
“Who is going to watch a debate between the two Cuban guys?” theHardball host said dismissively. “Who is going to watch a debate between Rubio, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Who cares?”
“You know they’ve been fighting in this interleague fight over who is the hawkish guy, or whatever. Who is going to watch that Thursday night?” he asked.
Mediaite noted that in 2015, Matthews said that he did not know if Cruz and Rubio, both of whom are Cuban-American, should even be considered Hispanic.
Trump has not been happy with challenges from Fox’s Megyn Kelly who will co-host the debate. The GOP frontrunner is stating that he’ll skip the debate just as the Iowa caucus kicks off the official primary season.
Neither Rubio nor Cruz were born in Cuba. Rubio was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban immigrant parents. Cruz was born in Canada and to an American mother and a Cuban immigrant father. Cruz has renounced his Canadian citizenship before deciding to run for president.

Because you know they are sort of fighting their interleague fight about who’s the hawkish guy or whatever. Who’s going to watch that Thursday night? Maybe I am building that up too much…”
