Chris Hemsworth shines in new ‘Thor The Dark World’ trailer, part of YouTube Geek Week
Thor: The Dark World has premiered a new trailer as part of YouTube’s Geek Week.
Marvel’s sequel sees Chris Hemsworth return as the Norse god of thunder as he faces off against Christopher Eccleston’s villain Malekith and the Dark Elves.
Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster, while Tom Hiddleston is also back playing Thor’s villainous adoptive brother Loki.
Idris Elba, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings and Zachary Levi round out the supporting cast for the fantasy epic.
Games of Thrones director Alan Taylor takes over on the film, promising a different tone than the first film.
“When I had that first meeting with Marvel I said, ‘I liked the first one but for me the world would look different, it would feel different.’ I mean, I really respect what they did. It was a conscious choice to say, ‘These are not ancient gods, this is an alien race that’s been mistaken for ancient gods.’ Which is an intriguing way to do it and it’s supported by Marvel mythology. But it had the effect of making everything new and shiny and that was what bugged me the most. So I came in thinking, ‘OK, let’s look at the ancient and see what happens.’ ”
Iron Man 3‘s forthcoming DVD and Blu-ray release will contain a special behind-the-scenes look at Thor: The Dark World.
Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on November 8, 2013.
