Chris Hemsworth says Alan Taylor brings ‘Thrones’ to Asgard, but ‘ground in reality’
The sequel to last summer’s “Thor” is already in production and Chris Hemsworth was featured by Hong Kong’s Prestige Magazine, giving the Aussie a chance to talk about the new film: “Thor: The Dark World.”
During the interview, published on Monday, Hemsworth explained the influence of new director Alan Taylor, who pleased fans with his mystical world of “Game of Thrones.”
“I love the way he adds an incredibly organic element to the fantastical world of Thrones, and I think that’s what Thor could benefit from. It’s grounded in reality, no matter how mythical or science-fiction-like it becomes. There’s a truth to it all. Certainly, working with him now, you can see he doesn’t want Thor or the Asgardians to seem like some distant race or god-like. He still wants them to be relatable.”
When asked about the biggest positive from the “Thor” role, Hemsworth relayed how the doors opened up as an actor, but presented new challenges.
“…the most rewarding thing is being able to pick and choose who I want to work with. You have the opportunity to try and get in contact with people that you might not have had access to before. That’s what you want; you want freedom and choice, in the industry and anything you do in life.”
“Avengers” proved to be even bigger than expected, especially juggling the ensemble cast. The “Red Dawn” star credits Robert Downey Jr. and the lynch pin for the cast.
“Robert Downey Jr obviously has an incredible sense of humour and wit about him, which you see in all his characters. He’s like that in real life. You’re playing catch-up; always 10 steps behind what he’s saying. All those guys I learned something from and admired.”

Hemsworth returns to theaters next month in the remake of “Red Dawn,” which opens on November 21. His next role is Ron Howard’s racing movie “Rush,” which opens in 2013.
“Thor: The Dark World” arrives next fall on November 8, 2013.
