Chris Evans discusses ‘Captain America The Winter Soldier’ story of Cap adjusting to modern world

Chris Evans says Captain America: The Winter Solider really addresses the idea of how Steve Rodgers will fit into the modern world.

“We haven’t really explored his adjustment period. In The Avengers we had so many characters you have to address, you don’t really have time to sit with any single one,” Evans begins, speaking with Empire Magazine.

Evans will return as Captain America, who is struggling to settle in modern day, finding a purpose and his role with SHIELD.

“In this movie there’s a lot going on for Steve. He’s trying to acclimatise to the modern world. I don’t want to give too much away, bit it’s about trying to find how he fits. “He’s a man from the 1940s He’s just woken up. For everybody else, it’s been a slow burn to get to 2014. But for him, suddenly there’s the internet, cellphones and The Patriot Act.”

Steve Rogers will struggle to understand this amazing technology of the 21st century.

“The technology’s new to him and so is the access the government has to that technology.”

The Winter Soldier comes two years after the success of The First Avenger as part of the Phase Two of Marvel films, culminating with the second Avengers film in 2015.

This time Joe and Anthony Russo are in the director’s chair. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) teams up with Cap to face off against an assassin known as “The Winter Soldier” (Sebastian Stan). Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) are the faces of SHIELD.

Also in this film are Georges St. Pierre as Batroc Ze Leaper and Maximiliano Hernandez as Jasper Sitwell (crossing over from the ‘Agents off S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show) and Frank Grillo as of the villain Crossbones/Brock Rumlow.

The film also stars Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, and Toby Jones.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4th.
