Chris Evans discusses ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and will fans be happy
At a local shop here in Tampa, the Marvel flurry of comic book films became the center of conversation. Among the biggest concerns is the handling of adapting Captain America to the big screen. The iconic character doesn’t have a murder or loss of a loved for motivation (see Batman or Spider-Man) and he’s truly a likeable character (unlike the alcoholic Iron Man).
Chris Evans, starring in the film as Steve Rogers/Cap, has now begun speaking out on the project:
“He’s a real redeeming character to play, it’s exciting to think of playing him. I actually have a friend of mine who I’m modeling the character after. This guy is actually an Eagle Scout, he’s one of those guys who stayed in the Boy Scouts all the way until he was 18. He’s just a good human being. He does the right things, he’s open, he’s honest, he’s sincere, he’s selfless. It’s something that I think everyone aspires to. A lot of time I play characters who don’t have any redeeming quality [Laughing].” – Wizard magazine interview
“As far as the physicality goes, that comes from the serum, and I think special effects will help me carry the load. As far as who he is as a man, the reason he’s chosen for this experiment is because he has a pure heart. It’s the morality, the nobility. He’s a real redeeming character to play, it’s exciting to think of playing him. I actually have a friend of mine who I’m modeling the character after. Evans played Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the “Fantastic Four” films and is well aware that fans are going to spout positives and negative comments:
“I can understand if fans are wondering. That’s okay. I’m obviously taking their concerns to consideration, but I can’t get too swept into it, otherwise I’ll start beating myself up and losing my confidence.”
Many fans appeared to be mixed over the casting and filming of “Captain America”, so we can see if the tide shifts once a trailer and more details are made public. The film is scheduled for release on July 22, 2011.

My first effort at “blogging” before it was called “blogging” was a Pop Culture, Comic Book column at CrazedFanboy.com.
A lot sure has changed since these days.
Due to the support/pressure from my DOB comrades, Splash Page was resurrected to publish Pop Culture topics and the “State of the Nation” will continue to deal with politics and heavy issues. READ ALL OF BRANDON’S POSTS HERE
