Chris Christie jokes about Hurricane Sandy on SNL, ‘gonna die in this fleece’
New Jersey’s governor, Chris Christie, joined Seth Meyer on SNL’s “Weekend Update” desk to dole out a few thank you’s to everyone involved in Hurricane Sandy recovery.
“I’d like to thank the Red Cross and first responders. I’d also like to give a special thanks my lovely wife, Mary Pat, who’s here tonight, who put up with a husband who has smelled like a wet fleece for three weeks,” Christie said of his now signature “governor” fleece.
“It’s basically fused to my skin at this point. … I’m gonna die in this fleece,” Christie added.
The governor took a few digs at classic New Jerseyan patience:
“I do not want to thank the people who are getting in screaming matches at gas stations over the long lines. I get it, screaming at people in gas stations is a New Jersey tradition, but don’t do it during a crisis. There’ll be plenty of time for yelling once this is all over.”
Christie finished with a few words from “Atlantic City,” by New Jersey “poet” and “saint,” Bruce Springsteen.
