Chicago pro-life billboard vandalized, making it ‘more hard hitting’

A vandalized pro-life billboard in Chicago has been raising awareness across the Internet, social media as Eric J. Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League shared a photo of the defaced image on Facebook.

A baby is wrapped in a warm knitted blanket next to the message: “A baby is a baby! Born and unborn.”

A smaller text within a red heart symbol reads: “Heartbeat: 18 Days from conception.”

Mary Hallan FioRito, a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, alerted Scheidler to the spray paint attack: blocking out the name, phone number, through the word “unborn” and across the baby’s face, writing ““My body, my choice.”

The organization’s name was marked through, changing it to read “Prolife ruins live.”

Check out the image below.

Scheidler wrote: “Last week, the Pro-Life Action League held a ‘Face the Truth’ tour stop at Fullerton and Ashland in Chicago. When we arrived, we were delighted to discover a beautiful pro-life billboard looking down on us.

“Well, some time after that Tour stop, the billboard was vandalized. (Thanks to Mary Hallan FioRito for the tip about this attack on pro-life free speech!)”

Life Site News noted the irony of the billboard’s defacing:

They likely failed to notice the extreme irony of painting this often-used slogan of abortion defenders on the baby’s face. It is quite obvious that this baby has her own “body” and that she is not the mother’s “body.” The baby has her own brain, heart, DNA that is completely distinct from those of the mother. In fact, the mother and baby may have different blood types. And, if the mother is pregnant with a male child, then certainly his organ of reproduction can in no way be her “body.

“…I think the vandals made the pro-life billboard even more hard-hitting. Drivers going down the road and seeing this beautiful baby defaced with horrible pro-abortion words will have to admit that the image and words don’t match.”

A pro-life pregnancy center in Austin, Texas was vandalized in August with the words “liars” and “fake clinic” spraypainted on the building.

n May, the Right to Life of Michigan Wayne County Educational Resource Center was vandalized with the words “hands off” spray-painted on the front of the building and additional spray paint on the back of the building.

At Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, a pro-life display was painted over and a sign was stolen.

At a University of Texas Austin event, Students for Life materials were stolen and thrown in a gutter.

Pro-life students at Augustana University in South Dakota faced an act of vandalism when the crosses from their “Cemetery of the Innocents” dedicated to the preborn killed by abortion were thrown into the streets and their signs were stolen.

In July, a Human Coalition mobile care clinic which offers free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to women was vandalized with the words “pro lies to women.”
