Check out the first ‘Thor Ragnarok’ photo, synopsis teases Planet Hulk battle
Marvel’s third Thor film arrives this year with a new director, Taika Waititi, and Thor:Ragnarok appears to pit Thor against Hulk with a key Planet Hulk theme.
Joining Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo as the key heroes is Cate Blanchett in the role of the villainous Hela, marking a massive casting coup for Marvel.
Tom Hiddleston returns as Loki for the first time since Thor: The Dark World. Jeff Goldblum will be introduced as Grandmaster, a cosmic being fascinated with game and chance who also happens to be one of the Elders of the Universe.
Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows) is seen on set with Hemsworth in this new photo and the crew in the background. A promo photo featured Blanchett’s Hela from behind with little else to offer. The fact the Marvel is ramping up the PR game is encouraging for fans who can likely expect a tease of some kind in the near future.
Karl Urban plays a villain named Skurge, an Asgardian warrior who is likely Hela’s right hand man. Fans are excited about Tessa Thompson as the Asgardian warrior Valkyrie, one of the film’s most anticipated characters.
Thor:Ragnarok arrives in theaters on November 3, 2017.
The official synopsis:
