‘Castle’ season 5 celebrates 100th episode, two-parter with Alexis Castle in danger, still no word on ‘Castle’ season 6

The ABC drama “Castle” will be reaching a milestone on Monday airing the 100th episode.

To kick off a rather emotional two-part episode of “Castle” season 5 beginning on Monday, series boss Andrew W. Marlowe had already proclaimed that we would probably see the show’s 100th episode be something a little more light-hearted, and much more in the traditional “Castle.” While this episode will not get your tear-ducts going, it will very likely make you smile.

In the first half of a two-part story arc, Castle and Beckett find themselves in a race against time when they unearth a plot to kidnap the daughter of a powerful foreign dignitary, but the stakes are raised when Alexis is kidnapped.

Here’s what Marlowe told EW:

“The two-parter is so big that in an ideal universe it would have landed in the 100 slot … And so for episode 100, we didn’t feel like we could do the kind of storytelling that just blows it out because [we had] just done something really huge. So what we’re looking to do is an episode that is a classic, charming, wonderful, surprising Castle episode that’ll be a lot of fun and feature all of our characters in a really great way.”

Molly Quinn, who plays Alexis, is not set to exit the show, so the long lists of reason why Alexis WON’T die appear to be safe.

There have been no announcements about bringing “Castle” back for a sixth season.
