CalTech, Oxford and Stanford ranked as top universities worldwide
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings were released Thursday and institutions of higher learning in the United States and United Kingdom dominated the upper echelon of the of the list.
Powered by Thomson Reuters, the THE is the only global university performance table to judge world class universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The top universities rankings employ 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available, which are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
Rounding out the Top 10 on the list is Harvard (4), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (5), Princeton University (6), University of Cambridge (7), Imperial College London (8), University of California, Berkeley (9) and the University of Chicago rounds out the top 10.
The top scoring African university is the University of Capetown (113), in Asia, the University of Tokyo is #27, in S. America, the University of São Paulo stand at 158 and in Oceania, The University of Melbourne is #28.
