Caitlin Early, Monica Olvera, Justice Alvarado, Alan Garcia receive Suncoast CU Foundation scholarships
Suncoast Credit Union Foundation (Foundation) recognized four freshmen with $88,000 in higher education scholarships on June 18, 2014. Over 1,039 students throughout southwest Florida applied for the annual scholarship and this year’s amount is the highest the Foundation has awarded in a single year. Since 1992, the Foundation has awarded $1 million in higher education scholarships to over 550 students.
Scholarship recipients for 2014 include:
$10,000 scholarship, renewable for four years: Caitlin Early, a graduate of Golden Gate High in Naples, Florida. Early plans to attend Gulf Coast University and study education.
$6,000 scholarship, followed by a $10,000 scholarship, renewable for two years: Monica Olvera graduated from Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, Florida and will be attending Edison State College to study nursing.
$6,000 scholarship for a vocational or technical program:
Justice Alvarado graduated from Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida and will attend Manatee Technical Institute (MTI). Upon completion of MTI, Alvarado plans to receive a nursing degree from the State College of Florida.

$4,000 scholarship for a vocational or technical program: Alan Garcia graduated from Immokalee High School in Immokalee, Florida and has been accepted into the Heavy Equipment Program at i-Tech-Immokalee Technical Center.

Suncoast Credit Union Foundation is sponsored entirely by Suncoast Credit Union, allowing 100 percent of funds contributed to go directly to the organizations and initiatives that assist children in the communities the credit union serves. In 2013, Suncoast Credit Union Foundation provided $1.7 million in funding and grants for a total of $9 million since its inception in 1992.
