Bulls forward, Luol Deng, negative for viral meningitis

UPDATE: The Chicago Tribune reports that Luol Deng will not play in Game 7 tonight. “He’s still not feeling well, so that’s a concern,” coach Tom Thibodeau said.

While he was unable to compete in Game 6 against the Brooklyn Nets, #9 has been medically cleared of viral meningitis, according to a tweet Luol Deng sent out yesterday.

Deng underwent a spinal tap earlier in the week, which in his own words, “I suffered the worst headache I’ve ever experienced and been the weakest I’ve ever felt.”

Deng took quite a bit of criticism for missing Game 6 against the Nets Thursday; however, the British star and Bulls small forward defended himself on Twitter:

The good news for Bulls fans is Deng says he’s been medically cleared and will be in NY for Game 7.

The winner of Saturday’s game gets defending champion Miami in the second round.
