Broadway’s ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ with James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury coming to theaters

Fathom Events, in partnership with Broadway Near You, presents Driving Miss Daisy in select U.S. cinemas on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Shot during the play’s Australian tour, after sold out seasons on Broadway and London’s West End, the “Driving Miss Daisy event offers fans the chance to see one of the most enduring and popular stage productions of our time in advance of this year’s Tony Award season. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Alfred Uhry stars two iconic Broadway and Hollywood veterans, five-time Tony Award and three-time Academy Award® nominee Angela Lansbury and two-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award® winner James Earl Jones and four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines.

Tickets for “Driving Miss Daisy” can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com, or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in nearly 300 movie theaters. Of this stagecast, playwright Alfred Uhry said, “Every playwright dreams of having a perfect rendition of his play last forever. I am blessed to have it happen for me with this production of Driving Miss Daisy.”

Driving Miss Daisy” tells the affecting story of the decades-long relationship between an elderly Southern Jewish woman, Daisy Werthan (played in the film by Jessica Tandy), and her compassionate African-American chauffeur, Hoke Colburn (played in the film by Morgan Freeman). Their iconic tale of pride, changing times and the transformative power of friendship has warmed the hearts of millions worldwide.
