Brandon Selph previews ‘Star Wars’ 501st appearing at Tampa Comic Con
Tampa Comic Con is this weekend and fans will certainly be lining up to see some of the great guests: Richard Madden, Pedro Pascal, John Rhys-Davies, Evan Peters, Caity Lotz, Jim Steranko, Marv Wolfman or countless others. On hand will be the Florida 501st Garrison representing for Star Wars and Brandon Selph spoke with Dispatch Radio about the event.
Brandon previews what fans can expect, promises an appearance by Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and even Chewbacca. Fans are always excited to pose with members from the 501st and he says they enjoy it as much as the guests at these conventions.
The 501st Legion is a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans. While they are not connected to Lucasfilm in anyway, the costumes are identical to those on screen, says Selph.
The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.
Brandon discusses how to schedule the members of 501st for your event and previews some upcoming appearances at a Tampa Bay Rays game on August 30 at the annual Star Wars night. They also have a huge event in September over in Orlando.
