Brad Bird gives ‘Incredibles 2’ update, dodges ‘Star Wars’ questions

While promoting Disney’s Tomorrowland, director Brad Bird gives fans and update on a sequel to The Incredibles. After a recent exit by Josh Trank, Bird’s name is swirling among the candidates to helm a new Star Wars film, confirming conversations with Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm.

“Kathy and I have discussed the possibility of—I mean she’s basically saying this is a very large sandbox and other people can play in it.” Bird quickly backed off, however, asking the interviewers to “just avoid all this Star Wars stuff” while turning to questions about Incredibles 2.

Bird went on to direct Ratatouille before jumping into live action with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and now the new Tomorrowland film.

Tomorrowland arrives in theaters on May 22, 2015.
