Boxing shocker: Timothy Bradley beats Manny Pacquiao in controversial split decision
Manny Pacquiao was barely paying attention to the announcement after the 12-round fight as he was confident he beat his American challenger Timothy Bradley.
However, the Pacman saw his 15-bout run come to an end Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title after earning one verdict from judge Jerry Roth (115-113) while CJ Ross (115-113) and Duane Ford (115-113) gave the fight to Bradley.
Pacquiao is quoted in Reuters as saying, “I respect the decision but 100 percent I believe I won the fight. I don’t even remember if he hurt me one punch. He got me with a couple of jabs but I don’t remember if he hit me a solid punch in my face.
“I give Bradley credit, maybe three rounds for him because in some rounds I relax. Aside from three rounds, every round I hurt him.”
Pacquiao trainer, the legendary Freddie Roach, shocked by the decision, believed his boxer won 10 of the 12 rounds.
Even Bradley looked and sounded surprised by the decision. “Pacquiao was a tough, tough warrior. This guy can punch, he has speed. He has all the tools,” he said.
Now it’s all about revenge for Filipino pugilist. He says he looks forward to a rematch against Bradley and vows to beat Bradley “inside the distance” the next time.
