WWE spends its second night in a row in Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada as Smackdown Live broadcasts into our living rooms. Botches

  • Naomi vs Billie Kay. The match was mediocre, and the minor rub it gives the IIconics for winning doesn’t offset how bad all of this makes Naomi look. With Becky Lynch’s heel turn, Naomi is left with few allies on the roster.
  • Why would AJ Styles put himself in the position to be hit from behind while he’s on the mic by Samoa Joe again? It didn’t happen, but it just seems like bad pattern recognition from the champion. And he didn’t wrestle, which has been the trend lately.
  • Heel Becky Lynch. The fans aren’t buying it and continue to chant her name and cheer her on.
  • Not even a mention of the United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

Bodyslams

  • King Booker welcoming New Day into the 5 Time Champions Club. That segment made no sense to someone tuning in for their first time, but it was immensely satisfying to this Booker T fan.
  • Daniel Bryan vs. Andrade Cien Almas. Two incredible performers delivered a hard hitting match and had the crowd eating out of the palm their hand. And suddenly Smackdown has depth in a Mixed Tag Division that doesn’t actually exist.
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Carmella. These two women delivered an impressive main event. Carmella gets a lot of criticism for her in ring abilities that she doesn’t deserve, and she sowed why she belongs at the top of the Women’s Division in this match.

Smackdown delivered a great show this week considering only one of their champions had a match and one champion was missing entirely. The Hardy vs. Orton feud was stoked without extreme violence, and a match at Hell In A Cell was confirmed for them. That match could steal the show. Daniel Bryan and Andrade Cien Almas were fantastic, and Almas has been getting the best booking on the show for a while. Becky Lynch is loved by WWE fans and is going to have to do a lot more than swear at Charlotte or attack her from behind to get them to hate her.
