Bowen’s Botches and Bodyslams: WWE RAW Results and Review September 24 2018

WWE Monday Night RAW comes from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado this week. Tonight The Revival find themselves back in the Tag Team Title picture as they face Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre for the RAW Tag Team Championships. Bobby Lashley has a match with Elias, and The Shield will kick off RAW according to updates from WWE.com.

Finn Balor with Bayley vs. Jinder Mahal with Sunil Singh and Alicia Fox

Finn Balor rolls up Jinder Mahal for the Pinfall victory while Mahal is distracted by Bayley taking out Alicia Fox and Sunil Singh at ringside. Mahal beat up Singh even more after the match.

Natalya and The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie) vs. The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan)

Ruby Riott lands a Riott Kick on Natalya and wins by Pinfall

Chad Gable with Bobby Roode vs. Konnor with Viktor

Konnor wins by Pinfall victory.

RAW Tag Team Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre (c) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder)

Dolph Ziggler pins Dash Wilder after the Zig Zag and Claymore combination.

Elias with Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley with Lio Rush

Bobby Lashley wins by Disqualification after Kevin Owens attacks Bobby Lashley. Elias and Owens attack Rush after the match but Lashley intervenes and makes the save.

Nia Jax with Ember Moon vs. Alicia Fox with Alexa Bliss and Mickie James

Nia Jax wins by Pinfall after crushing Alicia Fox with a Samoan Drop.

The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose) vs. Baron Corbin and the Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) with Drake Maverick

Roman Reigns hits the Spear on Baron Corbin and secures the Pinfall victory.

Botches

Braun Strowman called the Upcoming WWE Super Show-Down the WWE Super Show. He failed to properly brand the upcoming show and will probably face the wrath for it. It’s a silly thing, but with how careful the WWE is with the words its performers say, I’m betting there was a big deal made about it backstage.

Brie Bella knocked out Liv Morgan with a knee to the face during the Yes Kicks. Morgan was escorted backstage in the middle of the match while at commercial break and the rest of the ladies finished. That looked brutal, and I hope Morgan doesn’t have a serious injury as a result.

Bodyslams

Ziggler, McIntyre, and Strowman driving the wedge in between The Shield members and trying to get Ambrose to turn was really well executed. It could have gone off the rails and turned cheesy or made the heels look desperate, but everyone delivered. Ziggler nailed his part, and has been at the top of his game lately.

Finn Balor vs. Jinder Mahal was a better match than I expected and Mahal has been pulled through some pretty good matches lately.

Kevin Owens and Elias were at their best on The Kevin Owens Show. These two can control the crowd with their mouths like no others on the RAW roster.

Authors of Pain in the Main Event. Drake Maverick still doesn’t make sense as their manager, but at least they’re finally getting the spotlight they deserve.

This episode of RAW was a bit disjointed, starting off slow and taking a while to get to the first match, delivering a surprisingly hot opener, slowing down, sputtering through the middle, and finally closing strong. Brie Bella is the only superstar on the roster performing on both the RAW and Smackdown brands, save Corey Graves. With the Bellas back in the ring, the cross promotion to maximize their exposure alongside the latest season of Total Divas is inescapable. The Women’s Division had a strong showing tonight to help lead into the upcoming Evolution Pay Per View. It was good to see The Revival brought back into the Tag Team Title picture, as brief as it was. The matches were solid and the show was entertaining overall.
