Bowen’s Botches and Bodyslams: WWE RAW Results and Review August 27 2018

WWE Monday Night RAW comes from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada this week. Roman Reigns will meet face to face with Braun Strowman, Ronda Rousey will appear, and we will see the latest build toward the next Pay Per View, Hell In A Cell.

Show Opener with Roman Reigns In Ring

Baron Corbin wins by Pinfall after the End of Days. Corbin used a steel chair on Balor and was Disqualified, but as Acting General Manager Corbin restarted the match as a No Disqualification Match.

Does @fightbobby have the strength to take on BOTH members of #TheAscension on #Raw?? @KonnorWWE @ViktorRiseWWE pic.twitter.com/wfO85e5is6

Dean Ambrose vs. Jinder Mahal with Sunil Singh

Dean Ambrose lands the Dirty Deeds and scores the Pinfall victory.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns

The referee calls the match after Braun Strowman refuses to enter the ring after being tagged in by Roman Reigns, and McIntyre and Ziggler continued to attack Reigns. Strowman eventually enters the ring to attack Reigns as well. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins enter the ring in turn and get beat down by Ziggler, McIntyre, and Strowman.

Botches –

  • Baron Corbin as Acting General Manager. Announcing what should be an exciting main event landed with a thud and no response from the crowd. Corbin has a vanilla personality that doesn’t carry the job he’s performing.
  • Screwjob ending of the Corbin vs. Balor match. This feud needs to wrap up and this ending is just going to draw it out further.
  • Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks. One of the weakest matches from the Women’s Division in a while.

Bodyslams –

  • Titus Worldwide drawing closer to its conclusion.
  • Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens. A PPV quality match, and one of the best on RAW this year. Two of the best in the business tearing the house down with the crowd in the palm of their hand.
  • Braun Strowman heel turn. Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre will make for a team that can believably stand up against the SHIELD.

This episode of RAW used a lot of time to promote upcoming events, and with three of them over the next two months, that takes up a lot of the show. Hell In A Cell, Super Show-Down, and Evolution all had plenty of play tonight. Having an epic match from Rollins and Owens helped stave off the disappointment. The Revival getting a win over The B Team changes the trajectory of RAW’s Tag Team Division. The Bella Twins’ return will help bolster the name recognition for Evolution. Braun’s Strowman’s heel turn was necessary, even if I want to keep cheering for him. Overall, a satisfying show.
