Border patrol arrest sex offender sneaking back into the US via Texas

U.S. Border Patrol Agents arrested a previously deported sex offender as he attempted to enter the United States illegally near the Paso Del Norte Port Of Entry.

Border Patrol Agents working near the downtown area arrested one subject from Mexico as he attempted to enter the United States illegally early Thursday morning.  Records checks revealed that 30-year old Juan Carlos Bustamante-Pena had been previously arrested in March 2005 for felony sexual assault and was subsequently convicted.  He served two years in the Colorado Department of Youth Corrections. Bustamante-Pena was then removed from the United States in January 2009, only to be arrested again four years later and serve 152 days confinement for his illegal re-entry in the U.S.

Bustamante-Pena’s prior order of removal will be reinstated and will be detained at the El Paso County Detention Facility awaiting his criminal proceedings.

In recent months, Border Patrol has noticed a trend with these human smuggling organizations as they will direct illegal aliens straight to the agents in order to get arrested.   While agents are occupied with the group of arrestees, the smuggling organizations will then direct other individuals who seek to avoid apprehension, to enter the U.S. illegally away from agents.

These attempts have been thwarted thanks to the efforts of the U.S. Border Patrol, keeping convicted criminals out of our communities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection welcomes assistance from the community. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the U.S. Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-800-635-2509 toll free
