Bond raised on Cathy Bennett, school nurse, who helped teacher Angela Nolen hire hitman to kill hubby
A judge in Franklin County Circuit Court increased the bond on Friday for a school nurse linked to a murder-hire-plot.
The bond for Cathy Bennett, 37, is now set at $75,000. A judge in Franklin County General District Court set Bennnett’s bond at $60,000 on Thursday, but Franklin County Commonwealth’s Attorney Tim Allen appealed the ruling.

Bennett is accused of helping her co-worker, Angela Nolen, in a murder plot to kill Nolen’s ex-husband, Paul Strickler.
A bond hearing for Nowlen, 48, was scheduled for Thursday but postponed until next month. Investigators say Nowlen paid who she believed a hit man to kill her ex-husband, Paul Strickler.
According to the arrest warrant, Nolen gave Bennett a note with instructions to carry out the killing, then Bennett passed it on to a third party who reported it to the police.
WDBJ7 reports that Nolan had already paid a person $4,000 to kill her ex-husband.
Strickler, who is the father of Nolen’s 7-year-old daughter, told the Roanoke Times he had been working on a deal to sell his house to Nolen.
“If I was dead, she would not have to give me the money,” he told the Roanoke Times. “That scares the H-E-L-L out of me. I’m just so glad that the state police found out about this and uncovered it.”
Strickler’s attorney, Stephen Meddy, said his client was “distraught” when he heard about the alleged plot and that the couple’s divorce proceedings had raised no red flags. Nolen had full custody of their daughter before her arrest.
Both teachers were arrested Wednesday, but the case is still under investigation.
