Bob Grisham, Alabama teacher, suspended for ‘queers’ and ‘fat butt’ Michelle Obama comment
Lauderdale County High School psychology teacher Bob Grisham won’t be back in class for the rest of the year after taped remarks about gays and the First Lady came to the attention of school officials.
The Alabama high school teacher has learned he will be suspended for referring to the First Lady as “fat butt Michelle Obama” during a conversation iwth his psychology class.
Grisham ran into trouble when a student taped remarks of his class on Jan. 27, in which he also had choice words for gays. “I don’t believe in queers,” he said, according to the newspaper. “I don’t like queers. I don’t hate them as a person, but what they do is wrong and an abomination against God.”
During a debate-type discussion about current affairs in his class on Jan. 27, Grisham blamed the school’s low-calorie lunch offerings on “fat butt Michelle Obama.’’ He also added, “Look at her. She looks like she weighs 185 or 190. She’s overweight.’’
Lauderdale County Superintendent Jennifer Gray said the school board is “profoundly disappointed in the actions and statements of Mr. Grisham,” and that the suspension was and “specifically calculated to prevent such actions and statements from being made again.”
