Bill Maher: Michael Brown acted like ‘thug’ not ‘gentle giant’ as protesters in Ferguson attack white driver
Bill Maher addressed the ongoing situation in Ferguson as protests continue and the city is split in two. Twitchy published photos showing the blocking of traffic and the protesters.
The topic on the Maher show came around to police officers in Ferguson are wearing “I am Darren Wilson” bracelets before Maher a big turn and revealed he’s uncomfortable with the image being put out there of Brown as a complete innocent: “I’m sorry, but Michael Brown’s people say he’s a gentle giant. Well, we saw that video of where he was in the 7-11. No, he wasn’t a gentle giant. He was committing a robbery and he pushed that guy. He was acting like a thug, not like a gentle giant. He certainly didn’t deserve to be shot for it.”
In Ferguson, Missouri on Friday night, protesters stopped traffic in an area of the city. Video and photos show a white motorist who had reportedly gotten out of his car because he was frustrated that he couldn’t get home was assaulted.

Daily Beast gives an update on the case:
As the official autopsy report obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch demonstrates, Brown was shot in the hand at close range—with gunpowder residue in the wound. Both findings seem to buttresses Wilson’s contention that there was a struggle over the officer’s pistol. Additionally, a forensic pathologist interviewed by the paper noted that “the autopsy did not support witnesses who have claimed Brown was shot while running away from Wilson, or with his hands up.”
And there’s more: The Washington Post is now reporting that “more than a half-dozen unnamed black witnesses have provided testimony to a St. Louis County grand jury that largely supports Wilson’s account of events of Aug. 9,” according to “several people familiar with the investigation.”
